I use the app lifesum to count calories. I usually track everything I eat before or right after I ate it. And I even track everything when I binge (it makes you feel more guilty but it helps to binge less) My trick is to cut out everything with added sugar and stuff that contains a lot of grains especially bread, buns and cereal.
Try to eat stuff that fills you up and is low in calories. My favorites are raw vegetables, low fat vegetable soup, low fat and high in protein dairy products like cottage cheese. I also usually eat beans at least once a day, they contain complex carbs and protein which keeps you full.
Plus when I really crave sugar and fat I usually have some trail mix without added sugar or an apple with all natural peanut butter.
Sorry for the late response.
